October 15 - Corporate Tax Returns

Entities need to submit their 2024 calendar year income tax return (Form 1120) and ensure all related taxes, interests, and penalties are cleared. This deadline is valid for those who requested an automatic 6-month extension back in April.

October 15 - Employer Payroll Obligations

Employers must deposit Social Security, Medicare, and withheld income tax for the month of September 2025 if following the monthly deposit schedule. This also includes the nonpayroll withholding if similar rules apply.

October 15 - Nonpayroll Withholding

Tax due for September under the monthly remit rule should be deposited.

October 15 - Establishing a Keogh Plan

Self-employed individuals with a 6-month tax filing extension have until this date to set up a Keogh retirement account, aiming for contributions earmarked for the 2024 financial year.Image 2

October 15 - SEP and Keogh Contributions

Finalize contributions to SEP or Keogh retirement plans for the 2024 calendar year if applicable, given an extended filing deadline through October 15.

October 31 - Quarterly Payroll Filings

Submission of Form 941 for Q3 2025 is due. Ensure any unpaid taxes are deposited according to accuracy of deposit requirements. Should the liability be less than $2,500, payment can accompany the filed return, or you can defer filing to November 10 if taxes are settled on time.

October 31 - Small Employer Tax Deposits

Employers with a tax obligation of $2,500 or more for 2025 but under this amount for Q3 should settle any owed taxes.

October 31 - Federal Unemployment Tax

Deposit unemployment taxes accrued up until September if exceeding $500.

Business Day Adjustments

Due dates falling on weekends or legal holidays defer to the next business day. This automatic extension ensures compliance without unintended penalties.

Disaster Area Extensions

For regions declared as disaster areas, filing extensions are routinely provided. For specifics about disaster designations, check the FEMA and IRS websites for updates.Image 3
